THE CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER REVIEWS THE GENESIS OF HOW BETTER THAN GOOD SNACKS CAME TO BE!
The argument can be made that one of the last things America needs is yet another so-called healthy protein snack, but local physician Dr. Sangeeta “Tina” Mahajan and her husband, Katen “Keith” Pabley believe otherwise. At one time, they say, their child’s health depended on such a snack.
Several years ago, the Shaker Heights couple created Better Than Good crunchy protein snacks for their 4-year-old son, Jay, when he had an abrupt change in his appetite while undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia. The emphasis is on the crunchiness.
“All he would eat was chips and Doritos and other crunchy snacks,” remembers Pabley. “He refused to eat anything else. We tried to find snacks that tasted like chips but were high in protein and fruits and vegetables, and low in carbs, sugar and calories. We couldn’t find any, so we decided to make something like that for our son. That’s how Better Than Good Snacks was born.”
